This interactive educational module details the imaging features of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) and was created to address the gap in educational resources regarding evaluating MRI for PAS, a potentially life-threatening condition where the placenta is adherent to or invades the uterine myometrium. MRI is a helpful tool in diagnosis and characterization of PAS. Interpretation of placental MRI is challenging for radiologists due to the subtle imaging features, variation in imaging protocols and image quality, and lack of exposure to this examination.

The design of the module was informed by a needs assessment with radiology faculty. The module includes an overview of PAS, proper MRI protocols, illustrations of features of PAS, and annotated, scrollable case studies. Diagrammatic vector illustrations were used to simplify the imaging features. Case-based illustrations were incorporated into the module using opacity sliders to clarify the salient features in example MR images.
